Literacy Legends 2016/2017

How it Works... (Learning Lounge - 22/09/2016)

Literacy Legends is an Inter-Tutor Group incentive to promote reading and literacy across two year groups (Years 7 & 8). Monday 29/9/16 will be the launch of the 'Literacy Legends' Autumn Term Competition and will run for 7 weeks, finishing on Friday 11/11/16.

NB. This does include the October half term thus encouraging reading during the holiday.

The Learning Lounge would like students to always have a Learning Lounge book for reading in their bag at all times, and remember you are able to borrow up to 4 books at any one time!

The Learning Lounge will nominate seven students from both year groups to join Mrs Litherland and Ms Marris for an afternoon trip to Waterstones. Their prize will be to choose a book up to the value of £10, whilst at Waterstones and we will also buy a second copy for the Learning Lounge to then promote as ‘chosen by a Literacy Legend Winner’.

There will be a winning Tutor Groups for the 'most books borrowed and read' and 'least number of overdues'. The prize will be something to share with the whole tutor group (wonder what that could be?).

This competition has proved extremely popular and drastically improves book loans, thus encouraging students to read!

AUTUMN TERM 2016

• Lit Legend Launch Monday 29-9-16 - Last Day of Lit Legends Friday 11-11-16 (7 week Period - including October holiday).
• Winners will be chosen by Mrs Litherland and Ms Marris by Thursday Lunchtime 17-11-16
• Letters home to winning students on Tuesday 22-11-16
• Winning Student Reply Slips back to the LL by Friday 2-12-16.
• The Winning Students Waterstones Trip will be on Wednesday 7th December 2016

SPRING TERM 2017

• Lit Legend Launch Monday 9-1-17 - Last Day of Lit Legends Monday 24-2-17 (7 week period - including February holiday).
• Winners will be chosen by Thursday Lunchtime 2-3-17
• Letters home to winning students on Tuesday 7-3-17
• Winning Student Reply Slips back to the LL by Monday 24-3-17.
• The Winning Students Waterstones Trip will be on Wednesday 29th March 2017

SUMMER TERM 2017

• Lit Legend Launch Monday 24-4-17 - Last Day of Lit Legends Friday 9-6-17 (7 week period - including May holiday).
• Winners will be chosen by Thursday Lunchtime 15-6-17
• Letters home to winning students on Tuesday 20-6-17
• Winning Student Reply Slips back to the LL by Monday 7-7-17.
• The Winning Students Waterstones Trip will be on Wednesday 12th July 2017
