Author of the Month for April

Terry Pratchett was born on 28th April 1948.  Unfortunately, in the latter part of his life he suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and died on the 12th March 2015(Aged 66).  He spent most of his life in Somerset, writing books, where he enjoyed growing carnivorous plants and thought the world could use more orang-utans!!!

Terry Pratchett is one of the contemporary fiction’s most popular writers and is the author of the phenomenally successful Discworld series; 40 books!  This series started in 1983, with The Colour of Magic, and worldwide sales of his books are in excess of 70 million; translated into 37 languages

His first Discworld novel for children, The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, was awarded the 2001 Carnegie Medal.

He was awarded an OBE in 1998 and was knighted for services to literature in 2009.
