French Exchange

Each year the MFL department run an exchange with our French partner school, Lycée Alfred Mézières in Longwy.

When our pupils visit France, they stay with French families and experience life as a French student at the school. They also take part in many visits. Past trips have also included visits to Nancy, Paris and the World War I battlefields. Pupils language skills improve immensely and many pupils keep in contact with their exchange partners afterwards.

In England, pupils participates in trips to Nottingham, Sherwood Forest and Harry Potter World. The exchange is highly successful and we always receive very positive feedback about the experience.

Following the success of the French exchange, Mrs Myers has worked hard with our French partner school to secure a grant from the Lefevre Trust to support the French exchange next year. This will allow many more pupils to take part in the trip and improve their language skills. The focus of next year’s exchange may be World War I and pupils will potentially be visiting the battle fields in Northern France and the Imperial War Museum in London as well as participating in many other WWI oriented activities. This is such a huge achievement for the MFL department and we are very much looking forward to the trip next year.

Please feel free to look at the work carried out by our students this year. They did some work on the role of Europe and links between Britain and Europe, visited the Council of Europe and Robert Schuman's house (as well as some other areas of European interest!).
