Author Visit Sufiya Ahmed - 12th of November

On the 12th of November the Learning Lounge is being visited by author Sufiya Ahmed. During the months of November and December the Learning Lounge's career focus will be on politics. Before Sufiya was an author she worked in politics. She will be delivering a workshop on how to campaign for human rights and then she will be doing a meet the author chat. To attend one of her workshops just sign up at the Learning Lounge desk. Sufiya will also be available at lunch to chat and get your books signed. The Learning Lounge will be selling copies of her book 'Secrets of the Henna Girl' after half-term. If you are not sure about the workshops further details are below.

How to campaign for human rights workshop

  • Introduction to human rights.
  • Design a petition.
  • Write a letter to local MP on why they should support the campaign.
  • Design an advert which should highlight your cause.

Meet the author workshop

  • Learn about Sufiya's journey into writing.
  • Dress up in traditional Indian dress and participate in Henna painting.
  • Discussion about the book after a reading.
