The Techno Challenge Engineering Competition that ran during activities week was a fantastic success, focusing this year on the theme of Motor racing. Students worked independently and creatively to build an electrical buggy where they leaned about torque and pulleys to engineer the fasted buggy possible. They each also made a gravity driven wooden racing buggy where accuracy and quality of finish were the key to success.
They were then able to experience the same engineering principles on a trip to Langar Karting Centre, where the students received great praise from the centre staff and had tremendous fun racing against each other and competing for the fastest lap.
The week culminated in the competitions on Friday where the buggies they made faced off for prizes including; best engineering, best design, and of course, fastest buggy. Students took their buggies home having had great time and leaned some valuable engineering principles in the process.
