Record-breaking GCSE results
Toot Hill saw another morning of celebration today as Year 11s collected their GCSE results.
Initial headline figures show as:
Grade 5 and above in English and Mathematics: 67%
Grade 4 and above in English and Mathematics: 87%
Sandy Paley, Head of School, commented:
“Having taught at Toot Hill for 20 years, I am absolutely delighted with these record-breaking results and could not be more proud to be entering our 50th year as a fully comprehensive school, at our very best.”
Dr Chris Eardley, Senior Deputy Head, added:
“This year’s GCSE results have smashed previous records, with 87% of all students achieving Grade 4 and above in English and Maths and 67% achieving grade 5 or above. As a result of five years of the highest standards of education, focussed hard work and committed care and support, our students, with the help of their teachers, have achieved the highest grades ever, across the full suite of subjects, resulting in a Progress 8 score of +0.5.”
Year 11 student Marcelina Kohut collected her astonishing eight grade 9s, two grade 8s and a grade 7, and plans to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-Level.
Marcelina commented:
“Even though I put a lot of hard work into these exams, I wasn’t expecting these results. I am so proud of myself and my teachers for the hard work and support they showed me.”
Harry Boswell also secured a phenomenal nine grade 9s and two grade 8s and will be studying Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Physics at A-Level.
Cerys Woollacott, Victoria Williams, Hannah Marley, Jade Insley, Rebecca Parry, Willem Hayes, Katie Parry, Abi Davinson, Daniel McFerran, Benjamin Walster, Billy Stapleton, Thomas Charlton and Lizzie Smith all achieved a suite of grade 9s, 8s and 7s each.
Jade said:
“I’m so overwhelmed! I never expected to get these grades. I looking forward to seeing where these grades take me in the future.”
Cerys added:
“I would like to thank all my teachers for their help. Without their support, I couldn’t have achieved these results.”
Brothers Archie and Harry Gordon-Beeson both lived in France for four-and-a-half years before moving to the UK and attending Toot Hill School. Both brothers achieved a grade 9 in GCSE French.
Ashfaq Rahman, Vice CEO of the Nova Education Trust, added:
“The Nova directors and Executive Team would like to congratulate our hard-working students and staff on another year of fantastic academic achievements. These results are the culmination of incredible hard work and perseverance from our pupils and unstinting support from their parents.
The teachers and operational staff have worked tirelessly to provide the best possible guidance and experiences for our pupils and we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to them for all their efforts. This is an exciting time for our students as they make important choices for their futures and we would like to wish them every success in all their endeavours.”
