Techno Challenge - Activities Week
Techno Challenge - STEM workshops and Karting Trip
Every year 30-45 students opt to make and compete vehicles as well as go off site for Karting at Langar. Last year's theme was "Air, Land & Sea" where the students competed aeroplanes, boats and buggies. Well done to the amazing bunch of young people who did brilliantly.
Boats were this year's Techno Challenge theme. Students made & raced Paddle Boats & Power Boats.
30 year 7, 8 & 9 students had a fun creative and successful week building and racing Paddle Boats and Power boats as well as racing each other at Langar Karting track.
As well as the fun of the event, students were using Science and Engineering skills covering topics like, Pulley ratios, Torque, Hydrodynamics, and Electrical Engineering
On the Friday the completed boats were judged and raced on the following categories:
Fastest Powerboat: Sameer Qaiser
Best Designed Powerboat: Rhys Dunkley
Best Engineered Powerboat: David Wood
Most Effective Paddle Boat: Aiden McCarthy
Best Designed Paddle Boat: David Wood
Best Paddle Boat Manufacture: Oliver Scarth
However all students should be proud of their achievements and conduct having created some amazing results with a really positive attitude.
Karting on Thursday was also a big hit with the fastest driver on the day being Joshua Dowlman:
